Stephens’s argument is that while the #MeToo movement is good, in some aspects it goes too far. He believes that the consequences of people’s actions should vary depending on what they did. While I can understand his point here, I don’t agree with him. I understand his comparison that drug dealers and drug users are punished differently, sexual assault and harassment are sexual assault and harassment. We shouldn’t have to decipher if rape and unsolicited “dick pics” are different. They’re both wrong. They both should be punished. And they’re both affecting women under the #MeToo movement.
