2 interesting elements from “A Short History of Journalism for Journalists”
One thing I found interesting in the reading was the formation of “the public”. The collaboration of complete strangers with a variety of backgrounds to discuss news. To me, it is somewhat empowering how these different individuals would gather and just discuss news. Another thing I found interesting was the “reporters” of 1790. Someone who would just go house to house just to report back to his mistress. I appreciate how this shows how much reporting has changed and how far it has come. The reflection of the evolution of journalism is well reflected through that point of time.
